How parents take part in Pre-School

Coffee, Cake & Catch Up

‘Coffee, Cake & Catch Up’ sessions are held here at pre-school every half term and open to all parents & carers. Come along, have a cup of coffee/tea & cake, meet other parents & carers in a happy comfortable environment and share your child’s Learning Journal. These sessions will be very informal, and staff will be on hand to answer questions, offer support, information and advice.

Parent Rota

Helping at the pre-school enables parents/carers to see what the day-to-day life of the Pre-school is like and to join in helping the children to get the best out of their activities. Parent helpers play a vital role in supporting the staff. A parent helper may be any adult representative (16 yrs or above) from the family (e.g. dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.).  Once your child has been with us for their first six weeks, you may add your name to the parent rota. We feel it is very important to offer a high ratio of adults to children.  Unfortunately, siblings or other children are not able to attend sessions whilst the parent/carer is helping.

Parents Evenings

Parents Evenings occur twice a year.

Partnerships with Parents

Our practitioners have a key role to play in working with you to support your young child. This should include identifying their learning needs and responding quickly and professionally to any difficulties wherever appropriate. Working together with other professionals from other agencies such as local and community health and social care, to identify needs and provide the best learning opportunities for children. We understand that parents are their child’s first and main educators and we aim to work together with you to ensure that we share information, with parents contributing what their child likes to do at home. Having parents who are supporting development can ensure we are working together to create the best possible learning experience for your child.

Our Pre-school foyer helps us to communicate with parents/carers; you will also be able to find many posters informing parents of forthcoming fundraising events, snack menu for the day and our Pre-school notice board/information rack holds important information such as our Policies and Procedures, OFSTED contact details/information and staff and manager details.  Details of our short term planning are on view within the setting as these are a working document. We have external notice boards which contain further relevant information. Do feel free to arrange to drop into the Pre-school, if you would like to see it in session or to speak with the staff.
